TIDE is the collaborative duo of composer and music producer Julian Tjon Sack Kie (NL) and cellist Laurence Gaudreau (CA), formed from their shared fascination with the symbiosis of synthetic and organic sounds. Their music draws on influences from contemporary classical, African music, and the electronic underground scene. Utilising instruments like the kora, cello, and modular synthesiser, they delve into sound explorations through a blend of structured improvisation and composition. After performing at Gaudeamus in 2023, they were artists-in-residence at Uncloud in December 2024 and are set to perform in the concert series Echoes of Nothing in Muziekgebouw aan ‘t IJ in Amsterdam this spring.
